WOYWW 196

I nearly didn't show you my desk today as part of What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday as it's such a mess, and it's been exactly the same since I abandoned it on Sunday to watch Mayday on TV!
But I figure I should show the good and the bad so here it is...
If you'd like to see tidier desks than mine pop over to Julia's!
I'm off now for a fun day out with friends and then I will come back and tidy my desk, maybe...
Have a great day.

WOYWW 194

Remember me? I'm the one who loves visiting other peoples work desks (OK - being nosey) but never seems to join in these days. I have a day off work today so I thought I'd join in with you all.
I think I may have mentioned before that I am not a tidy crafter and here is the evidence, my actual working area is getting smaller and smaller.
(The jug has water in it to fill the iron)
Shall I show you the other side of the room?
Oh go on then...
shocking, isn't it?!
And here is my gorgeous sewing companion, Timmy
He's very quiet apart from the odd snore and is very patient when it comes to sharing his chair with all sorts of bits and bobs.
Mostly, I enjoy silence when crafting but today I am listening to the brilliant Alfie Boe on the ipod.
What, if anything do you listen to when crafting?
(PS. photos taken Tues 19th pm)

WOYWW 177 (and a Giveaway)

Yes, this really is the state of my desk!
I'm not a tidy crafter as you can see, I have so many ideas buzzing around I can't possibly waste time tidying as I go!! I'm off to the Meet and Make evening session later so will be taking some of this lot with me.
And as you can see here I've spilled over on to the chair with my mess
The rest of the room is pretty bad too but there's a limit to how much mess I can show in one post!
If you're wondering why I'm showing you my very messy desk then pop over here and all will become clear.

I am having a giveaway to celebrate my 100th post (which was actually 8 posts ago), if you'd like to enter click  here.
Thanks for visiting,
and thanks to everyone who visited my desk last week. Apologies for the late visits to some of your desks.

WOYWW 176

It was such fun joining in with WOYWW again last week, don't know why I stayed away so long!

I rather liked the look of this all together - very Christmassy!
My desk is a little tidier this week. I'm off to a crafty evening with my friend Mrs Snippet (I have the lemon shortbread Mrs S!) later and as I'm working this afternoon I thought I'd get ready in advance (not like me at all!). I am going to be finishing the Christmas decorations I'm making for the craft fair, they started out as brooches but as they seemed rather large I decided they'd sell better as hanging decorations rather than as brooches for giants!

I stamped on fabric (I love the effect), sewed the fabric to the felt and then embellished and sewed on the ribbon. Now I just need to back them with more felt - my job for this eve.
Here's a close-up of the only finished decoration so far. What do you think?! I'm still intending to make some brooches using the same technique but with smaller images.

I'm off to have a snoop around the WOYWW desks before leaving for work. Want to join me in having a snoop? Click the link - you won't regret it!
Thanks for visiting.

WOYWW 175 (and swap goodies)

I seem to have taken an unintentional break from WOYWW, I last joined in many weeks ago. I have stopped by to have a nosey at your desks, and of course I follow some of you WOYWWers too so kept in touch that way.
Today, when I walked past my very messy desk I was reminded how much I enjoyed taking part - I wasn't very creative over the (alledged) summer and therefore didn't really have much to show. As I'm now creating to sell at my first craft fair on the 17th November the desk is in use again - it seemed like a good time to come back!
I have to confess my desk has been exactly like this since Sunday due to me feeling poorly. Sadly, I missed a crafting evening on Monday with
Mrs Snippet (who rather shockingly has not blogged since the 5th July!) and Seaside Girl. Last weeks get together was a great opportunity to enjoy excellent company, biscuits and lots of tea whilst being productive!
Well, I'm happy to be back - if you've not yet discovered WOYWW pop over here to have a look - you'll be hooked! Thank you Julia for organising it all.

Whilst I am here I must show you the goodies I received this week from my All Things British (organised by the lovely Lynda) swap partner, thank you Trayci.

Thanks for visiting, and to all those who sympathised both verbally and via the blog over Eldest Boys attack - he's doing well but it still seems likely he'll lose his teeth.

WOYWW 155

Somewhere underneath all this mess is my desk!
I've been working on a card for a wedding I am attending during the Bank Holiday weekend.
It is for a second marriage of a 50ish couple so the traditional style with lots of white didn't seem right. I stamped the main image upside down to make it look like a bouquet, but I'm not sure if it does or if it just looks upside down! The stamped doilies and words are in dark blue rather than black as it looks in the picture above. I don't have any stamps with a wedding theme, and as I'm unlikely to use one again in the near future, I'd prefer not to buy one specially.

What do you think? Is it wedding-y enough?!

I'm off to look at all the WOYWW desks via Julia's Stamping Ground blog.
And then, as it's another beautiful day here, I'm going to make the most of it before starting work at lunchtime!

Thanks for visiting.

WOYWW 154

Another busy week so far with no time for crafting. Here is my desk, revealed to you as part of Julia's WOYWW.
Nothing very productive going on! There is the latest order from my favourite ebay seller, fluff pie. They have a great selection and the items are always sent quickly, which means a lot to me as I'm very impatient when it comes to purchases! I bought two MME stamps and a couple of ink pads.
Also on my desk are some Crafty Individuals stamps that were a free gift when subscribing to Craft Stamper, a magazine I'd intended to subscribe to anyway so a lovely bonus.
(Underneath is a scary letter about the future of my job!)
Another new purchase is the mini doilies, bought via etsy. I plan to embellish a cardigan with them.
This is the view of the sky here in 'Sunny Worthing', it actually is sunny so as I'm in work later I'm being drawn outside rather than to sit at my desk!
We had a dry although chilly weekend here. I spent it doing a bit of this.
Wallpapering in my sons room.
Shopping
planting
and
thrifting
(but that's another blog post!).

If you've made it this far, thanks for visiting.

Thrifty finds Thursday

I've not done a lot of thrifting recently, and when I have I've not had a lot of luck. What I have found I am very pleased with. This gorgeous small Tea set had one cup and saucer badly broken but there was enough left to make a lovely set (there is also a sugar bowl but it won't fit on the shelf!)

My next find was purchased for the frame, I do like the picture
although I think it will look a lot better with this print
inside the frame, so I have ordered it through etsy from Artylicious!

I had too many commitments this week to join in WOYWW. I am missing participating so I'm off to visit some desks...

Thanks for visiting
xXx

PS. I have been given an award from Beads, Buttons and Birds and will be blogging about it very soon, once I have decided on five people to pass it on to.

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday - WOYWW 152

As predicted, my desk is nowhere near as tidy as last week when Blogger wouldn't let me upload the picture of it! I'm still having problems uploading photos, but at least I managed to get one of my desk this week...
Yes, that patchwork picture is still waiting to be put on the wall!
This week my desk is full of rubber stamps, embellishments, paper, ink etc. ready to take to an evening with friends at the Meet and Make group I attend. Because I'm not that creative in the evenings (too tired) I am planning to continue cataloguing my stamps. My aim is to be able to choose an image and then be able to find the stamp easily! We'll see...

Apologies for my (very) late visits to your desks last week, as always I loved having a snoop and thanks to everyone who visited mine. It's such fun seeing all your desks, and I recommend it as a lovely way to spend an hour (or three!!). Pop over to Julia's to see what it's all about.

WOYWW - What's On Your Desk Wednesday 151

Blogger won't let me upload the picture of my (very, very) tidy desk!

Not much on my desk today anyway, I've not been in a crafting mood the last few days. I tidied my desk at the weekend to put off doing a dressmaking task I knew was going to be fiddly (and I was right - I had to unpick three times before I was satisfied!!)

These are the only two photos Blogger will let me upload today!
The thing I get the most comments about are these tiny shelves, they are thimble display units that I've painted, and are just the right size for my vintage cotton reels. I have several more (unpainted) storing more vintage cotton reels in my Craft Cupboard(!).
Sorry it's not a very picture friendly post, I'd love to have shown you my tidied desk (it won't be like that next week!!).

I'm having a giveaway this week, the book Thrifty Chic.
If you'd like to enter see the previous post.
I'll post outside the UK, so don't let living outside of the UK put you off!
Thanks for visiting and to everyone who visited and left a comment last week.
I love WOYWW, it's such great fun snooping around everyone's work spaces. If you'd like to join in the snoop visit here, you won't be disappointed!

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday 150 - WOYWW

It's that time of week! Click here to see some more workdesks.
I have been mulling over a few ideas recently and here I'm trying out a few designs.
Also on the desk is my patchwork picture still waiting to be hung, a pile of freebies from magazines, some D-I-Y bunting,
my new Emma Bridgewater tin and a desk planner given to me by my son on Mother's Day.
Thankyou to everyone who visited my blog last week, and to those who gave me advice on my patchwork throw. I am going to go with the increasing the backing fabric option...eventually!
I loved visiting all the desks but sadly didn't have enough time to comment on them all - must try harder!
Thanks for visiting.
If you like sewing I'm having a giveaway of a Tilda book, see the previous post.

WOYWW 149 - What's on your Workdesk Wednesday

Pondering....
Sadly, the EE isn't mine, although if it stays there much longer....
I started the patchwork throw back in February, sewed the squares together and then lost interest. On Sunday I decided to finish it. All was going well until I got to the the backing stage and found my fabric was slightly too small!
Since then I've been thinking about whether to make the border smaller (but it is the fabric I like most in the design!), or whether to add some blocks to the backing fabric to extend it. What do you think? Much as I'm tempted to go with the first option I think I'll probably extend the back as I think it will niggle me forever knowing that I didn't do it properly, and I want it to last a looong time. The previous one I did, not that long ago, is falling apart already!
And finally, this is what happens in our house if you try to work on the floor!
Thanks to all the WOYWWers who visited last week, I loved having a nosey around all the desks.

Pop over to Julia's to see what this is all about if you fancy a look yourself!

Thanks for visiting

And thanks to everyone who visited last week. I did visit EVERY desk eventually, but didn't manage to comment on them all. Visit here if you're wondering what this is all about...
