Just a quick post to show you what I've been making recently

Patchwork brooches!

I am becoming rather addicted to making these,

to give you an idea of size the bottom brooch in the top picture is approximately one and a half inches square.

I nearly didn't show you my desk today as part of What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday as it's such a mess, and it's been exactly the same since I abandoned it on Sunday to watch Mayday on TV!

But I figure I should show the good and the bad so here it is...

I'm off now for a fun day out with friends and then I will come back and tidy my desk, maybe...

My Crafty Weekend

I had a more successful weekend of crafting than last weekend, I managed to master the loose cover for a notebook, still not perfect but OK

I also made a (rustic) brooch which I rather like

but I'm not sure if the raw edges and wonky sewing would put people off if I were to sell it at the craft fair.

What do you think?

I also worked on a project for a friends birthday using these fabrics

I'm off to town now to catch up with a friend I've not seen for a while, the sun is shining and I'm looking forward to the walk there.

Pretty Pastel Style by Selina Lake

Well, my copy of this book arrived on Wednesday just as I was leaving for work (grrr).
 I had a lovely start to my day yesterday - in bed with a cup of tea and a toasted hot cross bun courtesy of Mr B, looking through the book properly for the first time.
I have to admit to being the tiniest bit concerned that this book may not live up to my (high) expectations! I do not have a pretty-pretty style, I am not a massive fan of pastels (I was thinking of ice cream colours) and I thought I might find this style a little sickly.

I needn't have worried, it is just as great as 'Homespun Style' and not at all the sickly pastel style I feared, but the usual Selina Lake loveliness, and the pastels are bright pastels if that makes sense.

 I know that, like Selina's other books, I am going to look at this book again and again.
