A Little Blue....

Dear Friends,

Thought I'd just pop in to let you know why I have not been visiting and commenting on your blogs.

I am coming to terms with the loss of my adorable sewing buddy

He was such a funny and sweet dog who never really grew up - it took him almost his entire life to learn how to say please/shake a paw! He used to follow me around, he loved company and was always with me when I was at home.

He loved nothing more than someone to cuddle up with

We only had him seven years and that doesn't seem long enough. Then again, we could have had him 17 years and it wouldn't have been long enough...

 

Missing him LOTS!

Remember me? I'm the one who loves visiting other peoples work desks (OK - being nosey) but never seems to join in these days. I have a day off work today so I thought I'd join in with you all.

I think I may have mentioned before that I am not a tidy crafter and here is the evidence, my actual working area is getting smaller and smaller.

And here is my gorgeous sewing companion, Timmy

He's very quiet apart from the odd snore and is very patient when it comes to sharing his chair with all sorts of bits and bobs.

Mostly, I enjoy silence when crafting but today I am listening to the brilliant Alfie Boe on the ipod.

City by the Sea

Our weekend

Saturday we visited Chichester, about 20 miles from where we live. Mr B spends all week there as it's where he works (lucky him!) but today was a just for fun visit.

We began by visiting 

I loved it and came away with a few purchases!

I could have bought more!!

Next, was a visit to Cath Kidston, where I finally used some vouchers I've had for a while. I wanted to spend them on something I really wanted and not fritter them away.

This is my gorgeous new bag.

I also did a bit of hinting to Mr B about a red spotty purse and umbrella for my up coming birthday. I'm not hopeful though!

Then it was off to

 Chichester Cathedral
where we had lunch in the Cloisters Cafe and a walk around the sculpture exhibition by Philip Jackson.

On the way out we noticed these for the first time

 (we've visited quite a few times before)

The final visit before making our way home was to my all time favourite fabric shop, The Eternal Maker

I had no intention of buying any more fabric for dressmaking, but I fell in love with this blue fabric and couldn't resist. I'll probably make myself a top with it. The cross stitch design fabric will be incorporated into a quilt I'm planning to make.

I just loved the bunting fabric, the small scale of it appealed to me.

I also bought some ribbons (for Christmas presents so I can't share!) and some felt offcuts.

We had a lovely day strolling around the city in the sunshine.
In the evening we walked to a bridleway close to where we live and made our way onto the South Downs (we know how to live it up on a Saturday night!)

A lovely day.

Sunday (today) Youngest Boy has gone off to the Chilli Festival at nearby West Dean Gardens, and Mr B and myself are pottering and doing chores.

(Eldest Boy is still in bed!)

This 'n' That

Beautiful weather, time off work and... a throat infection! Determined to make the best of it though - who knows when we'll get the next lot of nice weather!

You may remember back in April when I came across this idea in a magazine and started collecting plates...

Well, here is my version.

Most of these plates cost 50p or less, only one cost over a pound.

Love the effect!

I must show you this fabulous tea towel given to me recently by Seaside Girl (who else?!), far too lovely to dry dishes with!

WOYWW 149 - What's on your Workdesk Wednesday

Pondering....

Sadly, the EE isn't mine, although if it stays there much longer....

I started the patchwork throw back in February, sewed the squares together and then lost interest. On Sunday I decided to finish it. All was going well until I got to the the backing stage and found my fabric was slightly too small!

Since then I've been thinking about whether to make the border smaller (but it is the fabric I like most in the design!), or whether to add some blocks to the backing fabric to extend it. What do you think? Much as I'm tempted to go with the first option I think I'll probably extend the back as I think it will niggle me forever knowing that I didn't do it properly, and I want it to last a looong time. The previous one I did, not that long ago, is falling apart already!

Sunbathing

No, not me..the dog!

It's a beautiful spring day here and I found Muzzy sunbathing in his favourite spot.

Week nine project (last week)

Week nine project was rather ambitious for a busy week.

In answer to your question, Helen, one day it will be a patchwork throw for the sofa.
