Today we are having double glazing fitted here at the Bramble house. We've had draughty single glazed aluminium windows since we moved in more than 20 years ago. We had hoped to afford replacement wooden sashes at some point. That's never going to happen (currently over £20,000 for a terraced house!) we now realise, so have opted for UPVC in green on the outside to give the illusion of painted frames as a compromise.
It's cold here so I decided to do some baking to warm myself up and keep myself busy.
I subscribe to these chocolates (yes, you can subscribe to chocolate!!!) and get twelve 35g bags a month.
I have a bit of a backlog so wanted to bake something where I could use them up.
And this is the recipe I chose - I must be the last person on the planet to try it and I can see why people rave about it.
It took thirteen packets of the chocolate to make the cookies and they are very rich, and massive too!
I was looking forward to eating one with a cup of tea, but as I've been nibbling the broken bits and now feel in need of a lie down from an overload of sugar, I shall save that treat for later!
Have you tried this recipe?
What do you think of it?
As the double glazing is going to take five days to fit I'll have to think of other bakes to keep warm - maybe a slightly healthier one next time (or maybe not, I am going to be the teenagers favourite person this week if I carry on like this!!)
Thanks for visiting.

  1. I feel a headache coming on just looking at these rich cookies. That's the price I pay when I eat chocolate ... it's a curse :[ New windows are such a treat, but what a chilly time of year to have them put in. Stay warm there! Wendy x

    1. Do you know? I didn't think I'd ever say this about a chocolate cookie but these are TOO rich for me!!
It is a bit chilly to have windows fitted I agree - I was happy to go to work and warm up today! Thanks for visiting XX

  2. Ooh they look delicious. Hope it doesn't take too long for your windows to be fitted and you are soon feeling snuggly and warm again.

    1. Very rich but the boys love them. Mr B worked out they cost over £13 to make with the chocolate I used so they'd better be good!! Only 3 more days until I get a warm house...XXX

  3. Your windows will be worth it I am sure Suzanne, much snugglier and warmer indoors, cheaper bills and probably prettier from the outside from your description! Keeping on baking in the meantime has to be a fun idea, and when they do the kitchen you can make off to another room with the cookies and snuggle there instead! xx

    1. Fab idea Amy. Once the DG chap has finished in our bedroom I may well go to bed (with my clothes on I hasten to add!!) to keep warm! XX

  4. Yum these look delicious! I haven't tried this recipe but it looks like something I would enjoy making and we would all enjoy eating!
    Marianne xx

  5. They are delicious but very, very rich. Next time I think I'll replace some of the chocolate with nuts, not that the boys will be very happy with that! XX

  6. Chocolate cookies? My favorite type of cookie but I love anything chocolate.

  7. mmmm that is my kind of club. Eeeek that is a lot for windows.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog.

  8. Those cookies look yum! A chocolate subscription? Wowza. That's all I can say. Wowza.
    xoxo -Sonia
