A Little Blue....

Dear Friends,
Thought I'd just pop in to let you know why I have not been visiting and commenting on your blogs.
I am coming to terms with the loss of my adorable sewing buddy
He was such a funny and sweet dog who never really grew up - it took him almost his entire life to learn how to say please/shake a paw! He used to follow me around, he loved company and was always with me when I was at home.
He loved nothing more than someone to cuddle up with
We only had him seven years and that doesn't seem long enough. Then again, we could have had him 17 years and it wouldn't have been long enough...

Missing him LOTS!

Back soon
xXx

  1. Dear Suzanne, I am so very sorry you have lost your beautiful friend - there is no companion quite like a four-legged-furry-one, and they are such a miss when they leave us. I understand for I've been through this several times and I hope you can gain comfort from thinking on the good times you shared together, but I know you will miss him terribly. Love, Joy xo

  3. Oh Suzanne, that's sad. What a cutey. We used to look after a King Cavalier spaniel (a black and white one). He was adorable and he died last year (I think he was a about 8 years old). - it was an awful shock. Chin up, old girl, and take care. Hugs. xx

  8. Nothing I say can change your hurt, I have lost many cats and each one can still bring me to tears if I think too much about them. He had a lovely home with you and enjoyed your love for 7 years. He is as peace now.
    Hugs

  13. So sorry to hear of your loss - our furry friends are so precious and I agree they are never with us long enough however many years it may be. I remember reading this story which I hope will bring some small comfort to you.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, “I know why.”
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, “People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life – like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”
The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
