Lovely Lewes

Yesterday I had a jolly day out in Lewes with Kerry and Jane. We started here for breakfast, a place I'd heard about but never visited.
I had granola and Jane and Kerry had grilled vine tomatoes, I can certainly recommend the granola, I'd be happy to have it for breakfast every day (with someone to prepare it for me, of course!). I loved everything about the place, but especially the food. Having tasted some of Bill's Rhubarb and Ginger Jam I had to bring some home to share with my husband, and some tasty looking bread to go with it.
We had a mooch around the charity shop next door. I bought a beautiful tablecloth and have ambitious plans to make a lined skirt from it. In another charity shop I found a bottle of dried lavender for 50p, I bought it for the bottle but will still use the lavender. The small bottle was bought from the rather pricey Flea Market.
We then made our way up the hill to the Needlemakers where we visited the wonderful Patchwork Dog and Basket.  The owner was helpul and friendly and had a gorgeous little dog. I would certainly recommend a visit, the range of fabrics is super and I really like the way there are so many quilts around the shop to inspire. There are also lots of vintage items on display. I just wish it was closer.
Here are some photos I took

This is what I bought
The spotty and flowery fabric will be used to make a skirt and the stripey fabric a top (well, I am a dressmaker now you know!)
The top fabric on the right is by French General, a range that I love and have a lot of around my home.

Here is what Jane splashed out on
Kerry chose these lovely fabrics and trims
I'm really loving the cowboy fabric!

Then it was tea and a scone at The Needlemaker Cafe before making our way home.
We used to go to Lewes a lot when the children were younger, and I'd forgotten what a great place it is. I'm intending to return very soon.

Thankyou Kerry and Jane for a lovely day and big thanks to Kerry for driving us there (and back).

 XX

Thanks for visiting

  1. Can you explain why you've taken a picture of our bread, let alone bought it because it goes with the jam...? Your son xx
